The roller disco party, and other nice things

My parents ended up letting me have the after party at my house, so it was all good!
Last weekend was really great :)

Here are some photographs from the party;

There are more on my MySpace!

It was such an awesome night, even though me and the people that stayed over didn't actually go to sleep, haha.
Stu came round for a while on Sunday, and now alot of people's pictures on my "stuff wall" have moustaches, beards, top hats, monacles and pipes! :)
Then I went to bed at seven oclock in the evening, which is really too early, but I was absolutely shattered!

This week at college has been pretty good aswell, Psychology and Philosophy are particularly interesting at the moment :)

And another brilliant thing! John Frusciante is releasing a new album on the 20th of January, which means that he may tour, and so Jonny and I could finally see him live :O

Ohh and!

My dad's cousins in California have invited me over to stay with them for a while whenever I like!!
I really can not believe it :)

Mine and Charlie's day out :)

I went to Liverpool with Charlie today.
On the way there, we decided to get off the train at Sandhills station and pay a visit to Travis Perkins! We have been meaning to for nearly four years now but have never gotten around to it. We obviously didn't want to buy building supplies, we just think that it is such a cool name for a company to have :D
Unfortunately, it was closed, but we stood outside it and took photographs. Our life goal has been accomplished :)

After that, we wandered around in Liverpool One for a while, wishing that we could afford the lovely clothes in the Pop Boutique, Urban Outfitters etc
In Urban Outfitters, we found a very amusing card :)

Then we wandered around a bit more, then went to The Egg Cafe for a coffee.
I love that cafe, it's so nice! It's vegetarian, and plays great music, and is on the top floor of a fantastic looking building, so you can sit there and see all the rooftops of the city center! And it's also an art gallery!
Today they had a giant piece of paper stuck up on one of the walls for people to draw on, but the drawings had to be in a continuous line, I think it's such a good idea! This was our contribution to it;

Oh and I bought some lovely Winklepicker style shoes for £4 from Primark :D
A very good day indeed!

I haven't written anything here since August

How terrible of me :(
Anyway.

I have now been at Runshaw College for nearly two months, and it's really good!
I've made some lovely friends, and the subjects are very interesting! (Psychology, Religious Studies, Philosophy and Sociology)
Plus there is a park just across the road which I'm looking forward to spending my three hour breaks in in the summer, maybe sitting under a tree and reading :)

I went to the most fantasic gig on the 18th of October. It was a Doors tribute band called The Doors Alive, and they were honestly just like watching the real thing! (Not that I ever got to see the real thing ¬_¬) I went with Rob and Jonny, and we went early so as to get right to the front. Even though the band were not due on until nine oclock, I insisted that we stood infront of the microphone from about half past seven onwards, and it was so worth it! I had the lead singer ("Jim Morrison") stood near me practically the whole time, and to make it even better, part way through the gig, he stopped, went right up to me and said hello! Obviously I was quite taken aback so was just like "..Wow, hi!" He then started dancing around the stage, singing "What's your name, and where do you come from??" So I told him, and he shouted out "This is Sarah and she's from Southport!!" I was the only person that he did that to, so was extremely made up! :D :D
We unfortunately had to leave early though, as the last train back to Southport was at about twenty five to eleven..
I added the band on MySpace the next day though, and the singer told me that they are booking another gig at the same place sometime in the Spring!
Hopefully by then I will be able to drive, and if not, then Rob said that we can all just hang out in Manchester until the first train of the day at about six in the morning. Hah.

It is now half term, so I'm going to devote a few days to sorting my room out and finishing that painting on my wall!

Oh, and one day a couple of weeks ago, Erin and I were talking about how everybody used to have roller disco parties at the YMCA when we were little, and we wondered if you could still have them. So we went to find out, and you can still have them, so we have booked one for the 8th of November! I really cannot wait! :)
We are making it compulsary to wear 70s disco style clothing, and the music is going to be pretty groovy too.
The session can only last for an hour though, so we are hoping to have another party straight afterwards (Still in disco wear of course!) I am trying to convince my parents to let me have it at our house :)

I really will try and remember to write here more often!!

The Matthew Street Festival!

Our student arrived yesterday, he is called Gonzalo. Today, we went to Liverpool along with Jonny and Elliot to go to the Matthew Street Festiaval :)
We got off the train at Moorfields Station to see the interesting building opposite it, and heard "You really got me" by The Kinks coming from somewhere nearby, and we soon discovered one of the stages! The band that was on was called The Repeatles, and they played alot of songs from the 60s - great :)
After that, we had to stay for a tribute to The Smiths, as Jonny liked them.
Then we wandered round the centre of Liverpool, to HMV and Waterstones. (Where we spent an hour at least in the humor section!) Then we saw a band called Moses in one of the music shops, and then we saw a tribute to The Rolling Stones, called Rocks Off. They were boss! After them, was another band that played 60s songs, they were called The Overtures, and they were awesome aswell! :)
So a very good day indeed, although I am quite tired, and still can't hear properly!

I can go to Runshaw :)

I got Bs in Science, Maths and French, and an A* in RE :)
The others were Cs

I'm tidying my room,

Listening to LA Woman full volume on my record player :)

Yesterday, I went to Manchester with Kayleigh. We saw a stereotypical fat emo kid, and thought it was hilarious :)
I also bought a cardigan and a new hat. Oh, and Kayleigh bought a box of Lucky Charms from Selfridges. I quite like how American the food section there is. However, they did not have any Grey Poupon!

The student from Chile is arriving on Sunday, and we are apparently hosting a little party type thing for all these new students in the area!

I have decided that when/if I get enough money -aswell as going to California- I would like to spend some time in Paris, and sit outside cafes all day, reading poetry and drinking coffee. Marvellous :)

Everything is all over the place;

What with this student arriving a week on Sunday, and staying with us for six months!
We are having to re-arrange some of the rooms in order to make a spare bedroom out of the old computer room. So there is piles of books in the hall, carpet being replaced in the back room, the new spare room being re-painted.. It feels sort of like we are moving house!

This morning, whilst tidying, my mother found some old Playstation 1 games in a draw, so I've spent alot of the day playing on Spyro :)

Tuesday, 12 August 2008

It is results day next week

So I find out whether I'm going to Runshaw or Southport, eek :|
I do hope that I can get into Runshaw..
It would be very nice to have a change of scenery and make some new friends, I'm slightly worried though because I don't really know anyone who is going there!

It always slightly upsets me

When I watch a film or read a book about the "hippie" movement and music scene in the sixties.
I feel irritated that I missed it all by being born decades too late.
I'd give nearly anything to have been around for all that

Waynes World 2 is on now, so I'm going to go and watch it.

Dark Side of the Rainbow

Earlier on, I thought I would try synching the Wizard of Oz film up with Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the moon" album.
I had previously tried this, but was distracted as I think I was ill at the time.

I think I got it right this time - starting the album when the MGM lion roars for the first time - because some of the things really do seem to match up!
I noticed most of the things that are listed on this site, it was quite interesting :)

I do wonder though, how on earth did someone figure all that out in the first place?!

Through the looking glass

Whilst in Glastonbury, we were passing time in a charity shop, waiting for a cafe to open for breakfast, and I came across a box set of the complete works of Lewis Carroll for only four pounds! Of course, I bought it imediately, but had forgotton about it until this morning, when I found it in a bag of magazines. I have finished "Alice's adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the looking glass" and I am just about to start reading "Sylvie & Bruno"

Photobucket

On Thursday, the weather was lovely again. Me and Stu wandered around in town for a while, then went to Caffe Nero. Later on, him and Aaron came round for a jamming session in the garage, which was pretty awesome :)

Friday, I didn't really do that much, as the weather wasn't too good. On Saturday, I went into town for a bit, but there wasn't that many people out. Then to another party/gathering at Adam's house. The night was spent trying to fit us all into a hula hoop and watching cartoons on rathergood.com :)

Today, we went to my Grandma's house, and spent all day looking through old photographs and books in the attic. When we came back downstairs, five hours had passed!

Also, we are apparently getting a student staying with us for a month, arriving in a couple of weeks. I think he is from Chile.

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

It was really warm today :)

I had my hair cut this morning, the full fringe is back!
Then my mother and I went to B&Q to get some paint, and then I met Stu in town for a bit until he had to go back to work, then I went home and finally got around to doing some more painting on the wall :)

I also bought a book called Random Acts of Kindness, it's full of nice things to do to brighten up other people's days and in turn make you feel better
How nice :)

I should probably take Waterstones up on the offer of getting a loyalty card

The rain spoiled my plans of going into town

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This book has caused me and Jonny much worry and confusion.
It is a simply fantastic book, however, nearly every thing it lists, we have done.
We have now come to the conclusion that the authors of the book have been stalking us.

Some of the things include;
Waiting for the tea to brew, strolling through the city, looking at maps, face pulling competitions, climbing trees, sneezing when you look at the sun, lying in fields, the contemplation of things that fly, doodling, cloud watching, wandering aimlessly etc etc

Gosh :|

Monday, 4 August 2008

I've done nothing atall, all day

So there isn't really much to write today
How boring of me =/
I shall go into town tomorrow I think, and buy some books.

The sky looked lovely just before

Today, I made an attempt at going clothes shopping, and found lots of really nice things.
Unfortunately they were all too big, so I was quite annoyed =/

Yesterday, I went into town for the first time in absolutely ages! There were quite a few people out, and we sat around by the tree just like old times :)
Later on, I went to a party/gathering thing at Adam's house. Me, Sam and Jess amused ourselves by spending half the night on the slide, seesaw and climbing frame because we're mature like that 8)

Oktomat

I like my new camera :)
It is quite bright outside today, so I think I shall go and test it out

Saturday, 2 August 2008

Got the internet back :)

I am very happy at the moment because my new Oktomat camera arrived yesterday and I found an extremely rare and obscure album available for download; Love At Psychedelic Velocity by The Human Expression :D I haven't been able to find it on vinyl anywhere, and the CD is about $55 on Amazon, so I am absolutely made up by being able to download it for free ^_^

Back from France!

Even though there are a few things I will miss, I am very glad to be back in England :)
It felt like alot longer than ten days!

We are staying in Glastonbury for the night, in the Backpackers Hotel (One of my favourite places to stay :D) Our room is bright pink, and the whole place is painted lots of different colours - it's brilliant!
Also, I am sure that I saw Richard Wright from Pink Floyd walking about before!
It doesn't seem very likely that he is in Glastonbury at the moment but hey :)

Sunday, 27 July 2008

We visited the chateau again today;

First, we explored part of the cellar, but went upstairs again quite soon as we were slightly freaked out by it being freezing cold and very dark down there!
Instead, we went to go upstairs to the other floors but found the staircase to be rotten and falling to pieces in some places. We were about to give up and leave when I discovered a back staircase that was made of stone, and therefore not going to give way if we walked up it. We managed to explore the whole chateau by doing this, and it is really the most incredible place that I have ever been to! There were paintings and drawings on alot of the walls and shabby looking matresses lying about in some places, so we think that artists might squat there from time to time.
At some point, I would love to either squat there or rent a cottage nearby, and spend all day painting, listening to music and drinking coffee :)
And when I needed a break, then I could go for a wander through the fields next to it or the forests that surrounds it all. Occasionally, I might come across other people, so I would quickly scuttle out of the way so as not to be seen by them. I would go up to one of the attic rooms and look out of the windows at all the amazing scenery nearby. Then, upon seeing the person leave, I would return to the room I was previously in and continue painting, and it would be lovely :)

I do apologise for going on and on about it so much, but you would really have to visit the chateau in order to get a feel for how incredible it is!
